It’s Been Another Great Year at the Tobin Children’s School

The school year goes so quickly! It seems like it was just September and now we are facing the last few weeks of school. I wanted to take a quick look back at our busy year!

July & August:

  • We were super excited to try out all the new turf on our playgrounds and our giant sand box behind our school
  • We kicked off a summer of water play for all ages
  • We enjoyed a visit from a local Petting Zoo
  • Our PS and PreK students enjoyed a super fun Dragon Foam Party
  • We played soccer and other games with Coach Brian
  • We enjoyed watching our garden grow and trying our delicous tomatoes, beans, peppers, cucumbers, broccoli, and peas


  • We had our school picture days
  • PreK 1 & 2 headed off on their Apple & Pumpkin Picking Field Trip to Honey Pot Hill Orchard
  • We kicked off our special subjects with Yoga with Ms. Sandra, Animal Science with Mr. Matt, Spanish with Ms. Sorrenti, and weekly PE with Coach Gus & Coach Tim.


  • We joined together with children all over the world to read the same children’s book in honor of Jumpstart’s Read for the Record
  • We held our annual classroom Pumpkin Decorating event, always a favorite!
  • We began our Action Bus gymnastics optionals for PS and PreK students


  • We held our 18th Annual Tobin Family Volunteer Day where we welcomed Tobin families and teachers to work together to support a variety of good causes


  • We held our all-school Pajama Day and enjoyed Pancakes for Snack
  • We worked together to sponsor local children in need through the Natick Service Council Gift Drive


  • We kicked off the new year with lots of cold weather fun but, sadly, only a few days of snow play


  • We celebrated our 100th day of school in our PreK classes
  • Learned about the Lunar New Year
  • Enjoyed our Valentine’s Card exchange


  • All our Tobin students colored beautiful pictures of our school to decorate the Morse Institute Library to show off The Many Colors of Tobin for their mini-golf event
  • We were surprised by some mischievous Leprechauns on St. Patrick’s Day
  • We learned all about how to take care of our teeth with Natick Dental Partners


  • We started off April with our campus Scholastic Book Fair
  • We celebrated the Week of the Young Child with a concert with Stacey Peasley for Music Monday, enjoyed a Pizza Lunch on Tasty Tuesday, planted pansies on Work Together Wednesday, worked on our masterpieces on Artsy Thursday, and ran our own mini-marathon for Fitness Friday
  • Showed off all our amazing creations at The Tobin Schools Art Show
  • Collected change to help endangered African Elephants
  • We were excited to open our new sandbox area by the PS/PreK playground
  • We hosted classroom observers from ESCO as part of an EEC research study on quality early childhood education


  • We celebrated our 30th Birthday at TCS with a bubble and dance party on our turf field–with a special visit from the Tobin Tiger!
  • We celebrated our wonderful educators during Teacher Appreciation Week
  • PreK, JrKSD and JrKFD had a great Field Trip to the Franklin Park Zoo
  • We enjoyed learning about the Worry Cloud with children’s book author, Christine Carlucci Evans
  • We said a sad goodbye to Matt Coughlin, aka Mr. Matt the Animal Man, who retired from Tobin this year
  • We planted our TCS gardens
  • We hosted a NAEYC accreditor for two days for our reaccreditation process


  • We held an amazing Field Day
  • We are excited to learn more about water safety with Goldfish Swim Schools
  • We will celebrate our PreK students at their graduation on June 13th
  • We’ll end the year with a super fun Spirit Week, including a Beach Day with inflatable water slide!
  • And we are so proud of all the hard work our Tobin students accomplished this year!
